Copyright (author's rights)

The set of rights that protect a written work and let its author control its exploitation and earn revenue from it.

In France, author's rights arise automatically when the work is created, with no mandatory filing or formality (unlike historic US copyright, now aligned on a similar principle). They consist of moral rights (authorship, integrity of the work, non-transferable) and economic rights (reproduction, distribution, transferable or negotiable).

For an author who uses artificial intelligence to generate text, the question of rights over the generated content depends on the tool's terms of use: on Makebook, users keep full ownership of the ebooks produced and remain the sole holders of the exploitation rights.
